St Helens Bees Netball Club was founded by Leanne Hobin who recognised that there were no opportunities for young girls to play netball in the area. Neighbouring counties offered netball sessions for girls as young as 4yrs old which is why their athletes flourished in their later years. Therefore in 2021, SHBN was formed and the doors were opened for girls as young as 3 to start their netball journey.
In September 2021, the club started with two sessions with 48 children. Just three seasons later, the club has 112 girls across 6 age groups all playing netball. The club has also grown in coaches and volunteers and has 6 level 2 coaches, 10 level 1 coaches and 3 Bee Leaders.
The club has 8 teams, from year 1 to year 4, playing competitively in the Warrington Sport for All Netball League each week. We also enter tournaments throughout the year.
The club now has an established group of volunteers that form our SHBN Committee. Roles range from chairperson, to safeguarding lead to events coordinator. Without this incredible bunch of people, our club could not function.
